Gestura Utensils
Gestura 01 Silver Spoon
£34.00 GBP
Unit price / per01 Silver is built with a single tablespoon volume (half ounce) to scale recipes and ratios with consistency. The well is deeply formed to cradle liquid, the tip is tapered to a fine point for precise pouring or basting. The handle is long enough to stir a braise or a pot of beans, and nimble enough to sauce a plate. The lip is thin and flared to help scrape the corners of a pan or storage container.
Form-
Inspired by the worn and tarnished steel often found at flea markets, and modeled after old American and European silhouettes the spoon is tumbled and unpolished. This creates a matte and imperfect material finish. Each piece is stamped and etched, then finished by hand on a lathe in Mr. Okada’s workshop.
Origin-
Niigata, Japan
Material-
18/10 Japanese stainless steel
Length-
9 inches
Cleaning-
Hand-wash only, please.

Introducing
Gestura Utensils
Born from a love of antique silverware and a deep background in professional kitchens, Gestura reimagines classic kitchen tools through the lens of thoughtful design. With roots in both fine dining and architecture, the brand blends the charm of vintage craftsmanship with modern utility — creating timeless, functional pieces that chefs actually want to use.
Gestura 01 Silver Spoon
I found out about this spoon where someone wrote how this is the best spoon to use in a kitchen. It is sturdy and well-made, the spoon is a tablespoon measurement - i measured it. The edge also made it a clean scoop when i dig into jar especially when the jar is almost empty. The long handle also made it easier to scoop into deep jar.

I bought 2 of these and they are great to have in the kitchen. Beautifully made and can be used for so many things.
I’m not sure what I was thinking when late one evening I succumbed to my usual KAS (Knife Acquisition Syndrome) and ordered this spoon. Yes, it’s Japanese, ‘hand-made’ by blacksmiths with 100s of years of experience, looks very nice in the photo etc etc - in other words, ticks all my aspirational boxes! But when it arrived, I was forced to consider was it worth the incredibly high price? The answer is no. When you buy a beautiful Japanese kitchen knife (and god knows I’ve had enough of them from Chef’s Edge for whom I have the highest regard) you can instantly appreciate the quality you’re getting and the value-for-money feels right. But this spoon is just a spoon, however artisan and unpolished and ‘interesting’ it might be. So I’d recommend getting something cheaper (or just using one of the many serving spoons already in your kitchen drawer) and using the money towards your next gorgeous knife. I also bought a matching pair of Gestura chef’s tweezers at the same time and have much the same feeling about those. You simply don’t need tweezers made by an artisan blacksmith!
